Sometimes when we're keeping up with the latest internet trends, our curiosity gets the better of us and we have to try it out for ourselves. This is the same for bottle flipping, a trend that has taken our nation by storm. But now Chilton Middle has banned doing this activity on school campus.
How did Bottle Flipping start?
Bottle flipping started with a 18 year old named Mike Senatore. For his talent show he snuck up to a table and flipped a bottle that was a third full of water and landed it! Videos were taken and they became viral within weeks. Then everyone started trying the new cool trend. Bottle flipping videos flooded all the social media sites. What was once a cool talent show entry, became a entertaining trend that kids are trying all across the nation. A student at Chilton named Tanner Jaycox has flipped a bottle on the roof the first try several times. He even landed it on the cap! Who knew fun could be found with a plastic bottle?
Why is Bottle Flipping Banned?
Many students have been pretty confused for why bottle flipping has banned. The bottle flipping trend has been banned at Chilton because of many people getting hurt. Students have been hit in the head by flying water bottles. Is it as simple as that? No! Bottles are being found everywhere including the roof, gutters and other random places! Mr. Ancker, our school principal, has decided to put a stop to it. Mr Poulsen, our Vice Principal, said “The biggest reason bottle flipping is banned is because it is unsafe and being safe is one of our school rules.” Well said Mr. Poulsen! Don’t worry bobcats, even though you can’t do this at school, you can still try the trend at home.
